energy transition

The energy transition is a given. The shift to sustainable and renewable energy sources is in many respects essential, although there are different scenario’s as to how and when this will be accomplished. What is obvious is that the energy transition will lead to a great many changes in power, influence and dependency within the international value chain of the energy sector. For this reason GEN has already been looking at possible consequences of the energy transition for some time.

“What happens if millions of electric vehicles act as energy consumers and producers on the existing energy network?”
“How effective is it for companies who genuinely want to become more sustainable to take part in the CO2 and GVO trading system?”
“Where do we place PV panels and wind farms to deliver electricity to all of Europe?” “How do we deal with local generation?”.

Lots of questions. Lots of answers. GEN considers the energy transition from four viewpoints that reflect the energy sector.

1. Market
2. Value chain
3. Physical chain
4. Information chain
